Images and original text blend in Sweetie & Hansom to look at an American family, aging and the passage of time, youthful innocence, the tragedy and shame of addiction and the fragility of life. It considers the individual, the couple as a unit, and the relationships within and between family members depicted by two couples of different generations. Composed over seven the years, the work shows the before and the after of the tragic death of a son/a brother.
