The Schaubühne in Berlin is one of the leading German-language theaters in Germany and abroad. Six internationally acclaimed photographers occupied themselves artistically with the ensemble of actors. The photo posters shaped the cityscape of Berlin as an urban exhibition and can now all be seen together for the first time in this volume. The different signatures of the photographers—whether extravagantly staged, austerely formal, purist, or psychologically contemplative—show the different facets of the actors and how the gaze of the photographer influences the individuals portrayed.
